I am very grateful for the opportunity I was given to publish articles with MedScape Orthopaedics. They have been increasingly read and commented on. Today, my last one - concerning examination and treatment of the cervical spine - was selected as the top orthopaedic article. Slowly, hopefully, realistic clinical examination will be restored.
A few days ago, the Jerusalem Post published a full-page article from the U.S. describing the (re)teaching/restoration of "bedside manner" under some new title, something like clinical empathy at the U. of Virginia.
To me, it was almost like the "discovery" of jogging in the 70's as if not too long ago the human biped had to jog just to survive. The program is conducted conducted conjointly with the theater department. It is a sadness that such a program deserves praise as it illustrates how far medical education has deteriorated in its fundamentals, but it is a start.
