Thank you for visiting a little deeper. As you may already know, from the early 60's my professional life centered on the issues about orthopaedic medicine that involved disciplines foreign to my formal training as an M.D., from which came the revelation of Fundamental Flaw in our training that has resulted in a Pain Pandemic involving countless lives for considerably more than a century. Obviously, such a declaration could not be expressed without causing reaction.
No matter the truth and the proof, the stereotyped professional ego demands that it must not be challenged in its foundation especially when the shift has some equivalence to flat earth/round earth. But the physician's ultimate obligation is to follow truth. Temporary consequences must be irrelevant as compared to the preservation of the integrity of that foundation.
As you will be able to see, what became a mission involved me in extraordinary and challenging events. At some time, in another book, I will relate that early in my life I was intent on attending the U.S. Military Academy before entering medicine. Very reluctantly, over a few years, I relinquished that goal not realizing that all I was doing was choosing battlefields.
Explicit and implicit throughout, this site is dedicated to a persistent attempt to demonstrate and teach fundamentals that are universally essential to patient care, predominantly – but not exclusively – regarding the treatment of common pain problems.
Still, I think that any rational questioner will reflect why, if these so self-evident approaches are so vitally important, did they not gather a strong and influential adherence within medicine once they were realized, even within the past fifty years? Why has there not been an energy driving them into prominence sooner? Even now? Such a logical question needs to be answered to satisfy the full truth and diminish a potential impediment to its full consideration now.
Release From Pain provides part of that history, but it does not approach the answer to the raw question. For historians or anyone desiring answers, I will relate a very personal story, every phrase true, of what transpired – from which there may be those who will wisely learn some lessons of life. Sadly, I learned (again) that when it comes to an opportunity for recognition, for power, there are no natural constraints on people, even on doctors. Some of this story is painful. But it will considerably answer the question so I feel compelled to provide it with only limited abstractions.
I wish that this site, as it is at its opening, will be a dynamic matrix that will draw attention for the quality of its teaching.
I believe that www.DrGoodley.com deserves to be talked about well and the word passed on. I, as previously, as I am frankly proud to state, will do all I can to advance these principles.
On a personal historical note, I came to Israel in 2003 to a new life. A wondrous wife who supports me in all my endeavors was given me soon after I arrived. I was immediately licensed and see patients regularly. I teach at Tel Hashomer Hospital once a week and elsewhere. I am fruitful and my happiness is unrestrained. This website could only have been done here.
I await your comments and suggestions. Be well,
PHG
